Natural Holiday Makeup
Natural makeup with Neutrogena. We all have many places to go and many people to see this holiday season, so having different makeup options really helps when it’s time to get ready. Last week I showed you a more dramatic holiday look, but if you like to keep your makeup more natural, then this is the tutorial for you.
Start off my moisturizing your skin. This is a step you simply cannot skip, because moisturizing is not only healthy for your skin, but it also helps makeup go on easier and look pretty throughout the day or night. I’ve mentioned before that I’m a big fan of Neutrogena’s oil-free moisture with SPF 35. Let your skin absorb the moisturizer for 10 minutes before applying foundation. I used Neutrogena nourishing LONGWEAR in natural beige 60. I usually apply my liquid foundation with a sponge, but this foundation is quite light and breathable, and I was having a rough time with my blemishes (too much stress!) so I applied it with my fingers.
Now on to the eyes…
I tried the Crease Proof eyeshadow for the first time, and I was a little skeptical about how crease proof it truly was, considering they are stick shadows. I have a hooded eyes, so creasing is a big problem. Surprisingly, they really were crease proof! They come with a built-in primer to prevent creasing, smudging, and fading. I used two shades, Constant Copper in my eyelid, and Stay Golden underneath by brow arch to highlight my eyes. These two are really pretty, natural colors, and they go on really easy, so I think these will be my go-to shadows for when I’m in a rush.
Disclaimer: I’m totally wearing falsies here! They make such a big difference when you want to give your look a little more oomph, and if you apply them correctly people won’t know they’re not real unless they’re very, very close to your face. Another disclaimer, it took me a couple of years to master the falsies game.
This is what we have so far
I used the Nourishing eye liner in Cosmic Black to line my top lashes, and thenI gave myself a bit of a wing and drew this triangle on my crease. I used the back of the liner to smudge the line. Do this step quickly ’cause that sucker (the eye liner) will dry quickly!
And now for the water line…
I don’t usually line my water line, but I thought, what the heck? Let’s try something different! What do you think? If you don’t want to wear false lashes this is a good time to add some mascara.
I finished up with a bit of bronzer on my cheeks, Neutrogena Moisture Shine gloss in Healthy Peach, and a Santa hat, he.
When you come home at the end of your holiday party, be sure to remove your makeup with the Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes (read my review here). I keep a pack in my nightstand drawer for those nights
I’d had a little too much wine I’m too tired to wash my face.
