Happy Valentine’s Day!

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud,” reads Corinthians 13:4. “Love is the irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired,” says Mark Twain. Love is nothing but a chemical reaction in your brain; and massive amounts of blood flowing in your nether regions. Love is masochistic, schizophrenic and all in all, incredibly addictive. Love really does make the world go round. Amor vincit omnia. Love stories suck, but they make life worth living.
In honor of Valentine’s day I leave you my favorite love poem. I first saw it many many years ago written in ad for a cell phone company in Venezuela; I haven’t forgotten it since. I have no idea who wrote it, or what the original metre is. I’ve taken the liberty to translate it from the original Spanish (click on the flag on the top right hand corner to see it) and change around the punctuation because, why not?
I don’t think of V-Day as a holiday for couples; I think of it as a day for love. Please remember ladies, love yourselves, respect yourselves and only accept the love you think you deserve! That said, I wish you all a very happy Valentine’s Day!
This sea of love is mine,
gentle, like a seaquake.
It drags me
furious and agitated…
the white foam of innocence.
And I drown, happy.
