Beauty tips to fight your Allergy Face
I wrote this post as part of my participation in a blog tour for Latina Mom Bloggers on behalf of ZYRTEC® ALLERGY FACE® and received compensation to thank me for taking the time to participate. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
When I woke up this morning my eyes were itchy, and my nose was runny. “Fall is in the air,” I thought, because my allergies have started kicking in. Besides the discomfort brought along by allergies, there is also a beauty problem that comes along with them. For example, I wear contacts, and on days with lots of pollen my eyes get dry and itchy, and if I don’t take them off for a while, my eyes will get red and puffy. This is why Zyrtec® teamed up with makeup artists to the stars, Jackie Gomez, to create a few makeup looks to help allergy suffers feel and look good. Today I recreated a look called “Bronze Beauty.”
When I started suffering from seasonal allergies I thought I just had a cold, but allergy symptoms include red and watery eyes, runny nose, itchy throat, etc. So if you have a cold that just won’t go away, it may be allergies! Fortunately, Zyrtec® is available over the counter, and you can buy it and use it on the go- you don’t even need water, because the tablets dissolve in your mouth! Zyrtec starts working within the first hour you take it, and the effects lasts 24 hours!
This simple look only took me a few minutes to recreate. The blue eye line might be a bit too much for the office, but I think is a perfect weekend look. As per Jackie’s instructions, I started off contouring my face with bronzer. She suggested we use bronzer underneath the cheekbones and under the chin, to make our face appear more slender and combat puffiness. I took this step a bit forward and I deliberately used bronzer on my jawline and hair line as well – I was extra puffy this morning.
Instead of using the usual black liner, this look calls for blue liner. I have what’s called a hooded eye, which mean my eyelid drops over my eye, so you can’t really see the blue unless I blink. Next time, I think I will make my line much, much thicker. I loved how the blue liner make my eyes look immediately whiter, instead of the usual pinkish tint I get when I’m in the midst of allergy season. I will definitely be playing around a bit more with blue shadows this Fall. I finished up the look with tons of waterproof mascara on both upper and lower lashes and I curled by bangs a little, because why not?
The look didn’t specify what to do with our lips, so I picked a pink tinted lip balm, because I noticed that this fuchsia necklace was brightening up my face. So I also added a bit of pink blush, only in the apples of my cheeks, and I loved the effect. I definitely wasn’t looking as puffy or tired as I did when I woke up this morning.
If you like statement necklaces like I do, keep in mind whatever you put close to your face can help you accentuate, or hide, your allergy face. In my case, the fuchsia necklace help liven up my pasty complexion, because I usually look sick (and I have a bit of a cold) when I have allergies. However, if you tend to get red around the nose, play around with your accessories until you find one that helps you hide your allergies. This will depend on your hair color and skin tone, so unfortunately, I can’t tell you exactly what you need! However, I encourage you to try some of Jackie’s makeup tips, post a selfie on Instagram with the hashtag #ENFRENTATUSALERGIAS or #ALLERGYFACE and tag me (@amintair) and I’ll give you some more tips! :)
