This week on clothesandfashion.net I go boy crazy! <3

CoverGirl boyx

Hello lovelies! I don’t think  I will be able to update the blog this week. I’m very, very busy smooching up sexy boys! Haha. This picture was from yesterday’s CoverGirl event, introducing their new line of cosmetics. This, of course, was my favorite part of the afternoon. I usually go for the blonds, but I realized it’s not the hair color I’m attracted to, but the light eyes. These boys were so dreamy! I have many, many exciting fashion events to attend this week- including one at the Cosmopolitan headquarters! Plus, I’m also taking a little workshop to improve my fashion skills!

Make sure you’re following me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram so you don’t miss out on my adventures! :)

The Cheetah Cardigan

Aminta Leopard4Photos by Beto Ramos & CMFoto

Remember when I asked my guy friends to tell me what they want and don’t want to see a girl wear on a date? One friend simply said: “I don’t like cardigans.” Another said he didn’t like animal print; ergo this cardigan must be a nightmare for men. But wait, there’s more! It’s also studded!!! I’m sure my guy readers are shuddering right now. Who needs birth control when you’ve got a studded cheetah cardi? When I get dressed in the morning I’m not thinking of dressing for boys (most of the time, some occasions do call for lots of cleavage), so I’m going to rock this cardigan confidently until all the studs fall out.

I really love these micro shorts because I think my legs look suuuuuuuper long and even though a big part of this is the photo guys’ doing (read some of my tips on looking good in pictures, e.g. shooting from below) some of it was my conscious choice. See, as I’ve mentioned before, if you have short legs like myself, using those sexy hip-hugging jeans will make your short legs look, well, short. Instead, if you get high-rise bottoms your will trick people into thinking your legs go on for days on end. The comeback of the high-waisted pant was a God sent for me. I wasn’t a big fan of the trend at first, but I converted as soon as I tried my very first pair of high rise jeans. Look at these pictures here and then go look at this other outfit where I’m wearing low-rise jeans. See the difference? Heels help elongate the legs as well. It’s all about the visuals! Another example, check out this outfit where I’m wearing low-rise leggings AND flats. It’s a cute look, but I look a lot leaner in this picture ;)

How to Wear Backless Tops and Dresses

Aminta CGABG4Be Green

If you want to rock a bare back and, like me, have natural boobies which respond to gravity then this is the only way to go: sticky backless bra! I have a silicone one. Don’t be fooled by the advertisements: it’s not going to magically lift your bosom. It will, however, make your life less complicated. Read on to find out to use them!

By the way, you’ve also seen me rock this shirt here, but that time I wore a bra ’cause it was winter and girl, I needed the extra layer!

Happy Mother’s Day!

mama arbolMom rocks the fashion blogger’s nonchalant stare #nofilter

We have a saying in Venezuela: “You only have one mother.”  To which I reply: “Thank God, I couldn’t possibly handle two!” Sure, there are many things that annoy me about mine, like when she asks if I’ve been wearing my retainer. Or when I wear heels and she asks if I can walk in them, but I love my mom and I can only aspire to be as awesome as she is one day. Not to mention she’s a total babe (see picture above).

My mom and I have opposite body types. I’m a pear, she’s an inverted triangle. I was blessed with a big booty, she was blessed with giant tatas. We can’t share clothes. We have the same shoe size but she prefers comfortable footwear and I couldn’t care less if my toes are bleeding as long as I look good. When it comes to clothing my mom is very OCD. She can’t wear anything with wrinkles. I get this from her. She also takes incredibly long to get ready- I also get this from her. My mom always wears her hair in a low bun- she has the biggest scrunchie collection I have ever seen. Granted, I have not seen many scrunchie collections- who even wears scrunchies now a day? Where does she even get them from?

Every day I do something, or say something, and realize I am turning into my mother. My younger brother teases me about it sometimes. But you know what? I’ve made my peace with it. She’s a great lady. I wish I could spend this Mother’s Day next to her, but she lives in Venezuela. Happy Mother’s Day to the best mom in the world! I couldn’t have asked for a better mami! <3

A Pop of Neon

Aminta Neon8CMFoto

Hello lovelies! Here is yet another item I got last year during Black Friday that I hadn’t had a chance to show you yet. These jeans were originally $80 at Express, but I got them for only $9.99! Do you see why I absolutely love Black Friday? I’m not a big fan of light-wash jeans, but I couldn’t resist the neon stripes on the side! Now, my friends usually tease me because apparently I have some trouble differentiating colors, but I’m going to say this is neon green? I added this matching neon green necklace (or is it yellow?) because just two neon stripes in an outfit is not enough for me! I’m also excited to show you this cape I got during a Shoptiques event (remember Shoptiques? They did a little piece on me a while back. Read it here!). It’s not really good for anything except as an adornment , but that’s good enough for me! I love, love,  love it. Every time I wear it I feel like a superhero. So far I’ve only worn it over long-sleeve shirts, but I can’t wait to play with it some more this summer. To infinity and beyond! Be sure to get yours here.

What to Wear on a Date

What to wear on a dateJeans and heels (here) are a big hit with the gents. Leopard print? Not so much!

I have been waiting so long for Spring, you have no idea (actually, you kinda do, ’cause I complained about it yesterday). I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s excited about the weather. You know who else loves warm temperatures? Men! They’ve been seeing us covered up all winter, and suddenly, one day, boom! There they are- bare limbs! Mini skirts, denim shorts, strapless tops…you name it, if there’s skin showing they’re gonna drool.

You know that when you’re out with a guy the most important thing is to be yourself. I know, you’ve heard this a million times, but it’s true! Never be the woman you think he wants you to be. Be yourself until you find someone who loves you exactly as you are! In the mean time, date! I find it that when I go out on dates I feel better about myself when I’m wearing something that makes me feel good. Always play up your attributes but keep in mind that those first few dates are like a  job interview- how you look is important. This man doesn’t know you yet, so he’ll probably make assumptions about you based on what you’re wearing.

Dressing up for a date is always hard. That’s why I took it upon myself to ask some bachelors and coupled-up dudes to tell me what they think a girl should wear on a date. I heard some very interesting thoughts! I hope you find these helpful next time you’re on a date. YOU GO GIRL!

Welcome Spring!

Aminta Spring1CMFoto

Finally! The moment I have been waiting for for six months. No more big coats, gloves, scarves, tights, boots, ear muffs, beanies, none of that! Finally, SPRING! Glorious, beautiful, allergy-filled spring! I wanted to do something special for the first official look of the season, so I wore this beautiful dress, courtesy of Lulu’s, which had been hanging in my closet since Fashion Week, tags on and everything, and went to Central Park on a Wednesday afternoon because, why not?

When I first got back from Coachella I missed California a lot. Now that the weather is nice here I’m like: “Cali-whaaat?” I doubt I could have worn a gown on the beach during the middle of the week with as much ease as I did here in New York. All I got where perhaps a couple of sideways glances and one little girl on a stroller who pointed at me and said: “ballerina!” Aaawwww. I complimented this beautiful gown with this flower headband I made myself before going to the West Coast. It’s amazing the kind of things you can do with a glue gun and a little bit of time. I didn’t end up wearing it at Coachella (I wore this red and yellow one instead) but I’m glad I got to wear it here. I did a little dance to welcome Spring, and even got to play a bit of frisbee with some cute guys. My photographer didn’t think they were so cute, obviously, otherwise he would have shot them.

What do you think of this Spring look?

How to look good in pictures

Look Good in Pictures

I get my picture taken regularly, and not to toot my own horn or anything, but I’m pretty good at it! I’ve always loved being in front of the camera. During family trips as soon as my mom whipped hers out I would get front and center and flash her all my teeth- with braces, back in the day. “Just like your grandmother, Aminta,” she would say. Apparently, abuela Aminta was also a fan of getting her picture taken. So besides her name I also inherited her love for photos.

A lot of people are scared of cameras and shy away from them in fear they won’t look very good in pictures, but I have found there are many tricks to make yourself look as good as possible. A while back I did this short video (also below) with some tips, but  I’m including some more right now. I’m using some of my pictures as examples. Don’t forget to click on the links below them so you can see the whole outfit! :)

Emerald, Color of the Year

Aminta Emerald10CMFoto

Aaaaaaaaaaaand I’m back, baby! My almost month-long vacay  on the West Coast was amazing. I currently have the post-vacation blues. I love New York with all my heart, but I miss the amazing Coachella Valley sunshine so. I don’t know how I was able to survive six months of winter. I was seriously considering packing up my 50 pairs of shoes and moving across the country to a place filled with blond surfers and chill bros, but that was just a moment of insanity. In New York I feel right at home. Coachella was AWESOME, though! For me summer fests are mini spiritual retreats. I soaked in as many good vibes as I could and I’m ready to spread them around Manhattan.

This is the very last outfit I shot before leaving for Vegas. It’s almost time to pack up my winter gear again and bring out the short shorts and mini skirts (the gentlemen must be so happy to see bare legs again). Remember a while back I told you that emerald was the color of the year? You know I like to keep up with my trends, so here! It was also very convenient that we shot this right after St. Patrick’s Day, so even my nails looked the part. This is a more serious outfit than you’re used to seeing from me. It’s something you can almost wear at the office, isn’t it? There’s just something about a pencil skirt…this one you’ve already seen here. The faux fur coat you might have seen on Instagram but it’s the first time I’m properly showing you. What do you think of the outfit? Yay or nay on the color fur?
